Demand safe cycling around Oxford Street

Oxford Street needs safe cycle routes

Say yes to a traffic-free Oxford Street – but don’t ignore cycling! At last this iconic street will be people-friendly, but if cycling is banned on it - and not enough high-quality routes provided on nearby parallel streets - cycling in the West End will be WORSE. The Mayor of London and Westminster City Council need to get their act together and create some safe cycle routes to the north and south. Reducing traffic in surrounding neighbourhoods like Soho and Fitzrovia would make cycling safer, and streets more pleasant for everyone.

Act now to tell the Mayor and Westminster City Council:

  • Yes to pedestrianising Oxford Street
  • Cycling must be provided for on this crucial east-west route – if it’s banned on Oxford Street, create safe cycle routes to the north and south that are close and direct
  • Reducing traffic in surrounding neighbourhoods like Soho and Fitzrovia would make cycling safer, and streets more pleasant for everyone

Call on the Mayor and Westminster to show some leadership, work together to reduce traffic, and create these much-needed cycle routes for a better West End.
